At the CAOA Fall Conference in Estes Park, the general membership of the Colorado Airport Operators Association unanimously voted to approve the following Resolution concerning Transportation Security Administration Operations at Colorado airports.
RESOLUTION WHEREAS the Colorado Airport Operators Association represents public airports in the State of Colorado; and WHEREAS the Colorado Airport Operators Association Board of Directors and general membership have discussed their relationship with the Transportation Security Administration; and WHEREAS there is a clear consensus among the Colorado Airport Operators Association membership concerning the impact of Transportation Security Administration operations at Colorado airports; and WHEREAS the Colorado Airport Operators Association believes that safe and secure aviation operations are essential to protecting the traveling public while also maintaining an efficient, punctual, and customer friendly air transportation system; NOW THEREFORE the Colorado Airport Operators Association requests that the Transportation Security Administration and the members of the United States Congress protect the viability of the air transportation system in Colorado by: Securing airport operator approval for facility and procedural changes that are needed for the Transportation Security Administration to meet the new security requirements of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act of 2001 prior to being implemented; By appropriating sufficient Transportation Security Administration funding to pay for airport facility modifications that are needed for the Transportation Security Administration to install and operate new equipment to meet these security requirements while continuing to allow for efficient, punctual, and customer friendly terminal building operations. PASSED THIS 4th day of October, 2002 by unanimous vote at the Colorado Airport Operators Asosciation general membership meeting with the direction that the President execute this Resolution and forward it to Admiral James M. Loy of the Transportation Security Administration and the members of the Colorado Congressional delegation.
