The Airport
The transportation heartbeat of the Yampa Valley and the gateway of choice to Northwest Colorado. Located a short 30-minute or less drive from Steamboat Springs, Hayden, and Craig, serving the entire Yampa Valley community. HDN is served year-round by Untied and Southwest Airlines, and seasonally by American, Delta, JetBlue, and Alaska Airlines with nonstop service to 17 destinations including Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Diego, Newark and Fort Lauderdale.

HDN serves one of the largest geographic areas outside Denver and provides critical air service to northwest Colorado, southern Wyoming and northeastern Utah. HDN is currently Colorado’s fastest growing airport and has experienced 114% increase in passengers in the last 7 years and continues to grow. With a 10,000 ft runway, HDN is positioned for growth. The airport thrives on seasonal peaks fueled by Steamboat Springs’ popularity but is actively growing as a year-round destination.

To accommodate this growth, HDN is embarking on an aggressive expansion plan. Phase 1 will double the size of the passenger terminal and add 4 gates with passenger boarding bridges. Construction is scheduled to start in summer of 2026.

The Yampa Valley Area
The Yampa Valley immediately serves Steamboat Springs, Craig and Hayden, Colorado. The area is a year-round destination with world- class skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and a variety of winter activities. The Position
The Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) seeks an Airport Accounting Supervisor to help oversee the airport’s accounting, financial planning, budgeting and contract administration functions. This is a hands-on, professional role that supervises accounting and administrative staff, manages complex financial activities, and coordinates closely with Routt County Finance and other county departments. The position plays a critical role in supporting budgets, audits, grants, contracts, and long-term financial planning for one of Colorado’s premier mountain airports.

Major Duties

  • Plan, organize, and oversee airport accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end processes
  • Supervise, train, and develop airport administrative and accounting support staff
  • Lead airport budget development, monitoring, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, grant requirements, and applicable governmental regulations
  • Administer and monitor airport contracts, leases, concessions, and professional services agreements
  • Coordinate audits, fiscal reviews, and required reporting with County Finance and external auditors
  • Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and improve accounting and contract workflows
  • Support airport leadership with financial analysis related to grants, capital projects, rates and fees, reserves, and long-term planning

Preferred Qualifications
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Four years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, financial management, auditing, or contract administration, including at least two years of lead or supervisory responsibility
  • Experience in governmental accounting, enterprise funds, airports, special districts, or construction-related finance is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, budget development, and internal financial controls
  • Experience with contract, lease, and procurement administration
  • CPA or CGFM certification is a plus
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with airport leadership and county departments
  • A valid license to drive a vehicle in Colorado and a safe driving record
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Federal Security Background Check to comply with TSA Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badging requirements

Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary Range: $116,583 – $153,791. Full medical, dental, vision, retirement (401(a) match), paid leave, wellness funds, EAP, and merchant ski pass program.
