The City and County of Denver has hired executive search firm Korn Ferry to lead a nationwide search for a new CEO of Denver International Airport, following the retirement of longtime CEO Phil Washington earlier this month. Dave LaPorte, DEN’s chief operating officer, is serving as interim CEO while the search proceeds. Mayor Mike Johnston said an official job posting will go out in the coming weeks, with Johnston set to interview finalists and make a nomination — subject to City Council confirmation — before the end of the year. Washington led DEN since 2021 and oversaw its Vision 100 and Operation 2045 master plans aimed at growing capacity toward 100 million annual passengers.
