Shahn Sederberg

Communications and Multimedia Manager for the Colorado Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics

Shahn Sederberg is the Communications and Multimedia Manager for the Colorado Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics, where he leads the division’s strategic communications, multimedia production, and visual storytelling initiatives, helping highlight the value of Colorado’s aviation system and the vital role airports play in supporting local communities, connectivity, and economic growth across the state.

Shahn began his aviation career in 1998 as an intern at Centennial Airport before advancing into a role as an Operations Specialist. In 2001, he joined the Colorado Division of Aeronautics as an Aviation Planner, where he supported strategic planning efforts for federal and state-funded capital improvement projects throughout Colorado’s aviation system. He also conducted critical FAA 5010 safety inspections and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) evaluations at each of Colorado’s 76 public-use airports.

In 2005, Shahn transitioned into a communications-focused role with the Division of Aeronautics, combining his technical aviation background with his passion for storytelling, photography, video production, and graphic design. Since then, he has played a key role in elevating public awareness of Colorado aviation by highlighting the people, airports, businesses, and innovations that strengthen the state’s aviation industry and economy.

A 2001 graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management, Shahn produces many of the Division’s signature publications and outreach materials, including the Colorado Airport Directory and the Colorado Aeronautical Chart. He also manages the division’s presence at major national aviation events, including EAA AirVenture and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention & Tradeshow, where he helps promote aviation safety and showcase Colorado’s aviation industry to national and international audiences.

An accomplished author and multimedia creator, Shahn co-authored “Denver Airports: From Stapleton to DIA” and has contributed photography and editorial content to numerous industry publications, including Airport Magazine, State Aviation Journal, Air Beat Magazine, and General Aviation News.

Shahn is also a Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot and a strong advocate for the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) industry. He frequently utilizes both fixed-wing aircraft and UAS platforms to capture aerial imagery and video throughout Colorado. His contributions have earned multiple aviation industry honors, including the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) President’s Award and the State Aviation Distinguished Service Award.
